A little background information My first born son tragically passed away 12/25/2016 I started LVN school March of 2017 4 months into the program I found out I was pregnant. I never missed a day of school nor was I ever late. I gave birth to my son 02/14/2018 I was 40 weeks and 3 days which was my last semester of nursing school also the week of Midterms I slept over night in the hospital and was discharged a day later and i went right back to school getting up early to be at clinicals by 5am when i have been up all night with a newborn was emotionally and physically exhausting I ended up bombing my med surg Midterm and it dropped my overall average really low and I was failing but I am extremely determined and I refuse to quit I studied endlessly night after night still exhausted with my baby who was only a few weeks old i ended up scoring high enough on my final and i passed and graduated on time. I discovered Coastal bend college and read up on there amazing nursing program I applied and started taking my pre reqs I took the TEAS exam 6 times I was always short a few points from passing. I kept on studying and i told my self i would take it in june of 2021 well my husband ended up catching covid and it hit him very hard he spent 2 months in ICU he was nearly put on life support Doctors did not believe he was going to make it out of the hospital alive my husbands wish was for me to get my RN so while i stayed with him at the hospital i studied every day and took my teas exam for the 2022 spring cohort and I i finally scored high enough to apply for the Bridge program My husband was finally able to go home and he was out of work for 6 months due to having serve lung damage but nonetheless he survived and i am thankful for that I found out I was accepted In January 2022 and I started Jan 18,2022 I am now back in school in the LVN to RN bridge program. My passion is nursing I live to care for others. With prices going up Gas, Food ect I have to travel about 45 miles to school at least once a week sometimes twice i have spent 120 bucks in gas this week. I have 2 children and times are getting hard. While my husband was out recovering from covid we fell behind on bills and we are still trying to catch up. Financial aid only covers so much I ended up having to pau around 700 out of my own pocket.
