Metaphorically Speaking

Consider the metaphor that “the mind is a container into which teachers can simply pour information.” Discuss the implications a metaphor such as this would have for teaching. Is the view that learning is “an active, constructive process” consistent or inconsistent with the mind-as-a-container metaphor? What metaphors might better reflect the constructive nature of learning? Be sure to provide an example of how you might use these metaphors to illustrate learning as an active process.
