Delta Corporation has developed a new clothing line that is designed for young people. In order to create a suitable image for this new product line they are launching a subsidiary called EchoDelta, with a new image, logo and tag line. Given that the target market for this new product line is primarily young people, they have engaged a Social Media Marketing Consultant to launch the new product line.
<
You are that consultant. Unfortunately, the executives of Delta Corporation are unfamiliar with Social Media and how it can be utilized for marketing purposes. As a result, you need to:
<
• Explain what a Digital Dashboard is and how it can be of use to monitor activity in real time.
<
• Make recommendations on what should actually be displayed, in terms of type of data, sources for that data and frequency of updates.
<
• Explain the benefits of using Data Visualization technology to monitor their online sales and marketing activity.
<
• Explain what a mashup is, and why the corporation needs to utilize such technology.
<
• Provide reasons as to why they should also consider using geospatial technology. To provide the executives with an example, select an organization that uses data visualization and/or geospatial technology, detail how they use it and outline what benefits you feel they have gained from it.

This week’s discussion will focus on management decision-making and control in two companies, American corporation Amazon.com, Inc. and Chinese company Alibaba Group Holding Limited.
<
Decision-making and control are two vital, and often interlinked, functions of international management. Strategic evaluation and control are the processes of determining the effectiveness of a given strategy in achieving the organizational objectives and taking corrective actions whenever required. Control can be exercised through formulation of contingency strategies and a crisis management team.
<
For your discussion, use the Decision-Making Process (stages 1-9) outlined in the textbook (Fig 11-1) and this Module’s content. Visit the corporate websites of two companies, Amazon and Alibaba, and examine what these firms are doing relating to the strategic evaluation and control process definition in the process above.
<
For example:
<
• Stage 1: What is one problem perception for each company?
<
• Stage 2: What is the problem identification for each company?
<
• Repeat for stages 3-9.
<
What overall assumptions can you make using this decision-making process?

Students will conduct a service project consisting of a) a Walk-through-Audit or b) a Design of a New Service. A project proposal (one paragraph e-mail) is due for approval by the fourth week of class with a bullet outline (or draft WtA questionnaire) to be reviewed by the tenth week. The final project will be due on the last week of classes.
The Walk-through-Audit (WtA) Project involves selecting a service in which you prepare an audit questionnaire used by management to evaluate the service from the perspective of a customer. A WtA of the Helsinki Museum of Art and Design can be found in the text.
It is necessary to highlight that the questionnaire for the WtA, which is included in the textbook, cannot be used as part of your final project; this document MUST be used as a reference. Students must create their own questionnaire applied to the business structure that has been selected for this audit. A copy of the audit questionnaire, statistical analysis of the responses, and the gaps between management’s perceptions and customer responses are expected in the project.
For students with an entrepreneurial bent, an alternative to writing a short case could be preparing a proposed design for a new service. Commuter Cleaning – A New Venture Proposal, found in the text, was conceived as a new service by a former student.
It is necessary to highlight that the case presented in the textbook cannot be used as part of your final project; this document MUST be used as a reference. Students must create their own case study applied to the business structure that has been selected for this project.
At a minimum, the proposed service design should address all of the elements in the service concept, include information on the target market (qualitative and quantitative information), identify the competitive strategy (all strategic decisions must be support with a rationale and indepth analysis), and include a financial analysis of the economic viability (a rationale and quantitative financial analysis is expected).
Students must follow APA style for the final project, and a writing rubric will be available on Blackboard.

Step 1. Based on what you have read, design a building using excel, Sketch-up, or pen/pencil and paper. If you choose to hand draw your design, take a picture and save the image as a jpeg file. Upload the picture along with a description of your building. Be as detailed and descriptive as possible.
Step 2. Using the excel form; calculate the cost of your building. Remember the budget is $27,000,000. If you go over, explain why?
