CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT WRITTEN OR AUDIO/VIDEO ASSIGNMENT For this assignment, you will read the case study, “Being Sane in Insane Places”, Rosenhan (1973). While reading the case study, please analyze the following processes: objectives, data collection, design, methods, results, discussion section and conclusion. It may be your preference to select a specific section to analyze or you may select to analyze and evaluate the entire case study. Some concepts to consider in your analysis could be: The stigma surrounding the concept of insanity and diagnosis. Patient’s behavioral responses to the environment. How the language used by the professional staff may influence the environment and treatment of the patients. What theory could be applicable here? Why older studies such as this continue to have relevancy in today’s treatment of psychological disorders. Steps to analyzing a case study: Indentify the objectives and goals of the study. Data collection process which includes participant and demographic information. Analyze testing methods and procedures. Analyze the results and conclusion sections for further study, improvements to existing methods and/or replication. Technical Requirements: Submission of this assignment may be in written or video/audio form. You must also submit your notes. Your notes should include the articles you researched or the theories you selected from the textbook to support your findings. Your notes do not have to be perfect, but your notes should reflect your efforts to support your objective analysis. Please include a reference page with your notes.
